Women Walk at Midnight
Walk with us!
Women Walk at Midnight is the global practice of women walking on the streets of their cities. We walk for joy, for pleasure, to claim a right to the city we call home. We walk without permission. When we want to. Where we want to. Because we want to.
We have been walking in New Delhi, India since 2016 and have since had walks and chapters in Bangalore, Sao Paolo, Brussels, Cape Town and many more cities.
Questions like these often take centre stage: What would a city designed by women look like? How should public transport be changed to make it affordable, available and safe so that it can be used equally by all citizens of the city during the day and at night? How can we as women support each other to feel safe at night?
One of the founders, Mallika Taneja, who is a guest at the international figuren.theatre.festival this year with her performances ‘Do you know this song?’ and ‘Be careful’, invites everyone who identifies as a woman to the first Erlangen ‘Women Walk at Midnight’.
Registration and further information under the link ‘Registration’. You are also welcome to join us spontaneously and without registering.
WWaM is a volunteer run, non ticketed, non funded practice and shall remain so. It relies and thrives on solidarity from women all over the world.
In the festival shop you can find merchandise around Women Walk at Midnight. All proceeds will help the practice reach women who might need some support to be able to access the night.
