Buchpräsentation: Offen! Das internationale figuren.theater.festival Erlangen Nürnberg Fürth Schwabach
With the editors Anke Meyer and André Studt
A book about the festival will be published by Theater der Zeit in May 2025. According to the publisher’s announcement: “The international figuren.theatre.festival in Erlangen, Nuremberg, Fürth and Schwabach is one of the most renowned festivals of the genre and is known for the wide aesthetic spectrum of its programme. Founded in 1979, it quickly developed into a first-class address for artists and organisers, as well as an international and regional crowd-puller. With its regular companies, performative experiments, daring presentation formats and often momentous encounters, it not only reflects the current movements of the scene, but also writes itself into its history. What it can mean when a festival is prepared to (re)discover a genre again and again, when curating is also understood as critical promotion, students are regularly offered a platform and a region is gripped by festival fever – this is illuminated by contributions from numerous participants in front of, on and behind the festival stages.”
