Karla Kracht (ES/DE)

How would a future AI reinterpret human traditions and myths in a world where humans no longer exist? The multidisciplinary artist Karla Kracht transforms the kultur.lokal.fürth into a ritualistic, cave-like future space with a delightful imagination. She speculates on the spiritual heritage of humanity through the lens of post-sapiens intelligence and weaves a narrative using puppetry, drawings, video and technology. Objects, electronic artefacts, sculptures, mechanised forms, sound, light and video projections create a solemn atmosphere in which rituals – somehow familiar, yet strangely distorted – are celebrated. A thrilling look from a distant future into our global present.

Visual artist Karla Kracht has already been a guest at the international.figuren.theater.festival in 2015 and 2017 with her live cinema works between fine art, comics, animation and object theatre. Since 2018, Kracht has participated in numerous residency programmes in Taiwan, Bolivia, Malta, Menorca, South Korea and Latvia to deepen her research.
