In the interactive virtual reality performance „Wood”, participants wear VR goggles to immerse themselves in a strange world where nothing is as it seems. Beginning with a tea ritual around the Tree of Life, participants embark on a shared journey exploring the tension between control and letting go. “Who or what am I in this new place? Why am I here?”

The answer to these questions is only revealed once you (literally) dare to take the first step. For it is only through physical movement that you experience what is possible in this supernatural reality. Hidden connections are revealed as the boundaries between virtual and real experience become increasingly blurred. What begins as a dark, alienating world eventually unfolds in an explosion of light, shapes and colours.

Following Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert 2023’s performances of “Fire” and “Earth” in Erlangen, the Belgian artist duo will now present the third part of their long-term project “Table Dialogues”, which combines augmented reality, interactive theatre and visual art. Each of these interactive performances focuses on one of the five elements of Chinese wùxíng – earth, fire, water, wood and metal.
