Turn The P/Age
What does it mean to age as a woman in a time when the pursuit of eternal youth has become a cultural norm? While most people aspire to live to an old age, in Western societies it is often only viewed positively when it appears youthful. What does it mean to navigate this tension between societal expectations and biological transformations? As cis and trans*women, the four performers offer different perspectives on the visibility of femininity and the shifting self- and external perceptions of their bodies at different stages of their lives.
On a stage oscillating between laboratory and art installation, they interweave historical and personal stories, sound collages, and movement. Delving deeply into cultural and medical history, they explore how closely their experiences are linked to the society in which they age.
Since 2009, performance artist and choreographer Eva Meyer-Keller has been a regular guest at the international figuren.theater.festival in Erlangen. Her 20-year artistic practice is characterised by interdisciplinary and collaborative projects that deliberately transcend the boundaries between visual and performing arts and science.
Following the performance on 26 May there will be an artist talk.
