Barbara Bess (DE)
Synapses* me / men
How do new synapses and contexts of meaning emerge in the mutual reflection of spectators and actors? The performative installation is confrontation, encounter and transformation. An embodied investigation of subjectivity and objectivity in perception and performance, inviting the audience to adopt new perspectives, experiment with voluntariness and become part of a different society.
Since 2008, Barbara Bess has been developing dance and performance projects at the interface of urban and rural spatial culture, dancing in international productions and teaching contemporary dance, composition and body awareness. She interweaves moving installations, soundscapes and photography with the physical presence of bodies to create atmospherically charged spaces. She has received awards for her artistic work including the IHK Kulturpreis, the Impulsförderung and the Kulturpreis of the City of Nuremberg.
