Figurentheater Wilde & Vogel + Choreographia[Inter]Austriaca (DE/AT)
I am not in a room
Based on texts by Emily Dickinson
Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poems, Wilde & Vogel weave an associative web of gestures, sounds, energies, songs, spaces, and contexts from the ecstasies of natural sensations, the most significant moments of life and death, and geographical and historical references. The vast oeuvre of this important American poet encompasses an inexhaustible variety of themes and was published almost exclusively posthumously. Emily Dickinson seldom left her parents’ home and rarely entertained guests. It was from her bedroom that she forged the most intense relationships with the world, with her fellow creatures, and with fellow human beings. Her insightful and sensual poems reflect central themes of our time.
Figurentheater Wilde & Vogel has been influential in the international puppet theatre scene for 25 years now. For “I am not in a room”, puppeteer Michael Vogel and musician Charlotte Wilde collaborated with Taiwanese dancer Kai Chun Chuang, who had already performed in the production “Der Reigen – Ein überaus schönes Lied vom Tod”, which was shown at the 2023 festival in Fürth.
