Alles Gute – K(l)eine Antworten auf eine große Frage
Object theatre for grown-up children
Everyone tries to be a good person every day. A better person today than yesterday, a better person tomorrow than today. “My goal is to be a completely good person by the time I am 40. But suddenly I realise, oh no! 40 is already the year after next. The pressure is mounting. I have to hurry to become a good person.” But what is a good person? Someone who lights up their surroundings like a candle? Someone who is as precise and honest as the corner of an A4 sheet of paper? Or someone who, like a teacup, absorbs all shapeless liquids well.
Little by little, small objects with great dramatic potential and enormous stage presence appear on Subi Lee’s theatre table. Her “children’s theatre for adults” thrives on the contrast between apparent naivety and great seriousness, as well as a stunning sense of humour. With the simplest of means, the Korean artist has succeeded in creating a small theatrical miracle in her graduation project at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, supervised by Tristan Vogt.
