R. OSA – 10 exercises for new virtuosities
What makes a body beautiful and socially acceptable? “R. OSA” takes on the norms that construct myths of elegance and grace. In ”10 exercises for new virtuosities“, inspired by Jane Fonda’s aerobics and the voluptuous figures of the Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero, “R. OSA” shows that what appears to be mutually exclusive can actually create a great deal of good humour. Who would have thought, for example, that the corpulent performer Claudia A. Marsicano could be an energetic fitness instructor? Who would have thought that her weighty presence could move the audience so much and make them laugh?
Italian choreographer Silvia Gribaudi has been exploring the social impact of bodies since 2004. Her productions focus on humour and the poetic encounter between audience and performers. She has performed at national and international festivals. With “R. OSA”, she was a finalist for the UBU Award and the Rete Critica Award. Silvia Gribaudi is an Associate Artist at Le Gymnase CDCN in Roubaix, France, from 2024 to 2026.
