Maxim Storms (BE)
Nuggets
In this new solo piece, Maxim Storms (de)constructs the individual, struggling to stand their ground in today’s ‘we-want-more’ society. The performer does this in his signature grotesque performance style and with his distinctive and unique rhythmic language constructions. He creates a tattered universe where a last soul stubbornly keeps on modelling existence. Through dilapidated construction and fatal repair, the character attempts to reach an undefined goal.
Maxim Storms is an iconoclast who learned the trade at KASK (School of Arts Ghent) and plays and performs at various stages for various audiences. De Standaard has named him ”the Charlie Chaplin of his generation“ because of the slapstick that heavily characterises his style. In “Nuggets”, Maxim Storms radically remodels the main character’s remnants of existence. In all his work, Maxim Storms gives voice to characters who try or resent ‘impossibility’. “Nuggets” becomes a new stage in his search of philosophical dread.
Please note: Strobe effects and stage fog are used during the performance.
