Most venues at the international figuren.theater.festival are accessible at ground level, have lift access or are equipped with portable ramps. Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available at a number of locations. Where this is not the case, you will find detailed information on the on-site facilities online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Induction Loops<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
For visitors with hearing impairments, some venues have permanently installed induction loops, enabling visitors to use the induction service via their own hearing aids. Many venues will also be equipped with temporary induction systems for the duration of the festival. Visitors can access the induction service either via headphones or via their own hearing aids. FM receivers with neck-worn induction loops are available for this purpose. These can be hired from the respective day and evening box offices in exchange for a deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
German Sign Language Interpretation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Since 2017, we regularly offer selected productions with German Sign Language interpretation to enable deaf visitors to take part in the festival. Furthermore, many of the productions presented require little or no spoken language and can therefore also be well suited for visitors with hearing impairments if they do not rely on sound and music as key aspects of the performance. We are also endeavouring to offer an increasing number of performances with surtitles in German and\/or English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Audio description and tactile introductions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Figurentheater, a genre that is often highly visually oriented, presents a particular challenge for people with visual impairments. Since 2019, the festival has therefore been offering accompanying audio descriptions, which convey visual events on stage to blind and visually impaired visitors through textual descriptions. In addition to a brief introductory talk before the performance begins, where possible, there is a stage tour suitable for blind people, led by performers and\/or directors, to bring the set design, puppets and staging techniques to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Content notes and sensory stimuli<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Everyone brings their own story with them. Depending on individual experience, disposition and perception, certain themes and depictions can elicit very different reactions. By providing content notes \u2013 created either by the artists themselves or by the festival \u2013 we aim to ensure that visitors have the opportunity to decide for themselves in advance whether they wish to engage with the relevant themes and\/or whether the event is suitable for them. In this context, attention is also drawn to specific sensory stimuli, such as the use of light (e.g. strobe lights), complete darkness, loud noises (e.g. gunshots, other sounds), stage fog or similar effects, as well as physical contact and audience interaction. As there is a wide range of distressing content and sensory triggers, their assessment and extent may vary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Content notes, even when thoughtfully worded, can sometimes give away parts of the production; therefore, in accordance with a personal choice, everyone should be able to decide for themselves whether to read this additional information. We therefore provide notes under the separate menu item \u2018Content Notes\u2019. Information that may be relevant to health is also noted directly alongside the individual events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Website \/ Communication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
On the festival website, you can use filter functions in the programme schedule to view only those events that meet your requirements, relate to a specific city or fall on a particular date. For a quick overview, we provide a collection of potential productions and in all festival cities under \u2018Accessibility\u2019.
